Synopsis
The former fighters in the Spanish Civil War Heinz Priess and Willi Bürger talk about the communist member of the Reichstag Hans Beimler (1895-1936). Beimler’s daughters Centa Herker-Beimler and Rosemarie Schober-Beimler as well as Dolores Ibárruri, Pere Ardiaca and Avelono Hernándes talk about the legendary person Hans Beimler, who was a political commissioner of the International Brigades’ Thälmann Batallion in the Spanish Civil War. Archive material shows unique moving pictures of Hans Beimler and others at the front. Just like old photos, they illustrate the commitment of the masses for the Spanish Republic. Tracing history from Dachau to Madrid and Barcelona on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
